Prospecting: Where to Sell your 90% and 40%

those of you that sell your 90% and 40% - where do you sell your silver finds? Also, where (who) has the best price for purchasing these self-made fractionals? I am really most interested in finding the best deal out there for purchasing some additional 90% - mostly interested in stacking some dimes and quarters... at a good price. I looked on the 'net today and most places want an exhorbitant amount for their prospected coins plus huge shipping and handling charges. Is there anyone on here that is selling their smaller silver coins in bulk?:36_3_12:

I have a coin store about 2 miles from my home. You have to understand, that he will pay the going "Sell" price, and I do not have to screw around with packaging and shipping to someone. Do you expect someone to sell to you at a loss? I am not trying to be a smartass. I am just curious where you are coming from.

This statement is tough to judge or comment on without you placing some $ signs in your post. How much exactly is "huge & exhorbitant"?

And if their prices are high ... That's good right? I wouldn't want to carry all this heavy stuff around if it didn't have value...

My first 90% purchase of any consequence was at a coin auction. I had to drive there (20 miles) & then sit through 2 hours of watching other people bid on stuff I didn't want, or couldn't afford.

It was worth it to me, but to some folks, the time would not have been worth it.

I was more meaning selling a roll of mercs for about 18x face and then charging 19.95 for shipping... Specifically a roll of mercs has $59.50 melt value right now. There are places on the net selling a roll for $95 then 19.95 shipping. Do they even really want to sell them or not? To me a roll of mercs should cost LESS than the amount of equivilent .999 in silver but apparently not. I guess I'll stick to prospecting and stacking rounds and bars as I get a chance. I have quite a bit of halves but I wanted to supplement in some mercs/rosies and maybe some Washingtons... you know to have some sort of fractionals for when the SHTF...

Should have spoke up earlier, I just shipped off $500fv dimes to APMEX for my dad last week. He has another bag of quarters but hoping to not have to sell them till silver is over $18 again or ever for that matter- be nice to want to sell them and not have to.

Some people have had good results selling (and buying) on Craigslist.com

You are right, that seems high & I wouldn't buy at that price.

But... It's their silver & they can charge as much as they want.

Get the phone # of some coin shops, pawn shops & phone them every week.

My local guy has about 1K face in the vault. He told me he's holding on till spot goes up. If I was him, I'd do the same.

Re: Prospecting: Where to Sell your 90% and 40%

My local brick and mortar coin shop is paying Spot X 0.68 per dollar for 90%
Sells at Spot X 0.74 per dollar.

Assume Spot is $16.50. He pays $16.50 x 68% = $11.22 times face value. ($11,220.00 per bag)

He would sell at $16.50 X 74% = $12.21 ($12,210.00 per bag).
So, roughly 10% profit (spread).

I am sure he pays a little less to folks with small quantity that just walk in off the street, and I am sure I could buy for a slightly lesser sell price than the average Joe that wants only $20 face value.

I buy locally, pay a little less than him, wait for silver to strengthen, and sell to him, continuously skimming small amounts to add to my stash. So, my stash grows without any cash outlay over time.
